What is Dutch?

Dutch, the card game you play from memory

Dutch is a fast card game for 2 to 6 players, close kin to Cabo and Cambio. Everyone is dealt four cards face down and nobody may look at them, so you swap, match and remember your way to the lowest hand, then call Dutch! before anyone else does.

Play it here free in your browser, on phone or desktop. There is nothing to download and no account to make: create a table, send the link to friends, or add bots and start straight away.

How to play

Finish with the fewest points. Everyone gets 4 face-down cards — and you don't get to look at them. Memory is everything.

Your turn

  • Draw from the deck or take the top of the discard pile.
  • Swap it with one of your face-down cards; the replaced card goes onto the discard pile.
  • A card drawn from the deck may be discarded straight away instead. A card taken from the discard must be swapped.

Matching

Whenever a card lands on the discard pile, anyone holding the same rank may throw it on top — even out of turn. Hit Match, then tap your card. Guess wrong and you take a penalty card and can't match again this turn.

Special cards (when discarded)

JJack — swap any two cards on the table, whoever owns them. QQueen — peek at one of your own cards. AAce — give another player a card from the deck. KRed Kings (♥︎ ♦︎) are worth 0. Black Kings are worth 13.

Calling Dutch

Think you're lowest? Press Dutch! during your turn — it's called when your turn ends. Everyone else gets one final turn. The caller is protected from Jack swaps and Ace gifts. If the caller isn't strictly lowest (ties go to the caller), they get +10.

Scoring

Ace = 1, number cards = face value, Jack = 11, Queen = 12, black King = 13, red King = 0. When someone reaches the target score, the lowest total wins.
